Awesome!!!

I saw a bald eagle flying over the lake in front of our house last weekend...
I was filling up the horse trough in the front pasture, bored as hell...
when I heard the ducks on the lake raising a ruckus...I looked up and saw a bald eagle soaring above the lake, hunting...with three buzzards in it's wake...looking for leftovers. What an awesome sight...no wonder our forefathers chose this bird to be our national symbol...a turkey, quail or peacock just wouldn't do....

I've heard of a few sightings around here, but I've never seen one.

I'm jealous!

They are indeed majestic. Can you imagine that these birds were hunted and thought of in much the same way you would a coyote, less than 100yrs. ago. The pesticide DDT help to diminish the surviving numbers to a total of less than a thousand breeding pairs. It was not until the 40's when laws to protect the Eagle where passed. They have made a strong come back to numbers estimated to be in around a hundred thousand now. We are a strange race - we humans. The smartest dumb ask mother fathers (say it fast) to walk the planet. We learn then repair the damage. Don't get me wrong --I still don't buy the global warming thing being our fault.

Several years ago, we visted Yosemite National Park. They were everywhere. It was a remarkable site.
